The Power of Faith: Triumphs After Challenges in God’s Perfect Timing

By Angie Strefling July 8, 2026

I truly believe in the saying that God delivers triumphs after challenges in His perfect timing. As a child, I had a deep love for God. I went to a little church close to home although my parents didn’t attend and I joined some friends. My dad’s heart was always broken and couldn’t find his way. When he was a young child a pastor he really looked up to had a daughter who passed from cancer. He just couldn’t ever understand how such a good God would let something so awful happen to such a God fearing man, pastor and father. It is so hard for us all to keep faith when it’s really tested, but that’s when we need to reach for him to carry us the most. Anyway, I participated in puppet shows at this church and attended Sunday school and various church events. I definitely don’t want to try to portray sainthood as a child here though, trust me on that one!! LOL!!! I deserved to have my butt whooped more than a few times! But I felt like, for a young child, I loved Him so. I remember there was a sermon once about we had to ask God into our hearts and ask him to accept us as his child and later that evening when I went home, I remember laying outside on the back of my mom and dad‘s old Chevy Cavalier asking God to see my heart and accept me as his own. I was never baptized or confirmed then, but when I was 16 at a different church where my sister and future brother in law and his family attended I was.

As I grew older, sin became more prevalent in my life. Unfortunately, instead of serving and following God, I encountered far more challenges than triumphs. It’s clear now that my eyes and heart were focused in the wrong place. I was being more self-centered than God-centered.

Over the last several years, I have faced even more challenges, but I finally made my way back to Him and His word. I am making a conscious effort to follow His path more closely and sin less. Since then, it’s wild to look at how my life has transformed in beautiful ways. I reunited with a high school friend who is now my best friend. I’m married to a wonderful man who is great for both me and my children. I’ve also started a beauty and wellness business that fills me with pride and excitement, pushing me to explore my capabilities.

Writing has always been a God-given talent of mine. I embraced this gift as a child, writing all kinds of things. Then, for several years, I didn’t really write at all; I didn’t even think much about it. I recall writing a poem when my dad passed away and another one during my sister’s battle with cancer, but that was all.

Now, feeling centered and at peace with my faith, my family, and the path my life is taking, I’ve returned to writing with renewed passion. This journey has led me here, to share my story with you. I just love connecting with others of similar paths or minds. Always feel free to reach out and connect with me!
